I think this is a bad idea, not sure who would even want to try to walk in Julie Andrews shoes.

They have GOT to be kidding. Geez, there are so many other actresses out there who could do this and be more appropriate.

Nothing against Carrie Underwood or anyone else in the cast, but the movie is a classic. No one can come close to Julie Andrews’ performance – or, for that matter, Christopher Plummer’s (seriously, his version of “Edelweiss” will always be the best).

Maria with orange skin, huge teeth and big, yellow pageant hair? DNW.

I would much rather hear about this beautiful talented woman than that other chick who can’t sing & calls herself country but isn’t. We saw Carrie live 2 months ago. Best concert ever. And it was the only country show we’ve ever been to. All the others were rock shows. I think that says something about Carrie and the wide appeal of her music.

Out of EVERY picture, why did the choose this one of her? She’s so pretty but that picture above makes her look fake.

Check out Christina Leoentti’s YouTube videos. She’s going to a producer soon, so the quality will be getting better. Otherwise, she is pretty good. This isn’t spam. Honestly. She’s been playing piano for over 12 years now and singing for just as long, if not longer, since she has been since she was about 10. She’s also been playing violin for over 9 years, flute for over 7, and guitar self-taught for over 3 . Please subscribe to her and listen to her music. She has big dreams and really wants to make this her career and she definitely has what it takes!

NBCs worst idea yet. also carrie who?

Could be worse! At least it is not Taylor Swift. But Swift would not get the part because we all know she cannot sing! Auditioned for Les Miserables and was sent packing. Carrie is not feminine enough to portray Maria; she is definitely a country singer (great voice, but a country girl).

you are rude! Carrie is beautiful and has a fantastic voice! Jealousy does not become uou. She is not Orange! She has amazing flawless skin!

Carrie will do a GREAT JOB on this role as she has already performed Sound of Music once before and she did a lovely job on it. that is probably why she was chosen. She is also a great live vocalist and this is going to be taped live. She will do great and she has a year to rehearse and take acting lessons too. You haters are just ridiculous!

i LOVE Carrie. Fantastic singer, beautiful girl, and wonderful person. But she seems really miscast in this role.

As smart as Carrie is I’m surprised she agreed to this. Its the same as if Demi Lovato was cast as the “The Coal Miners Daughter” …although I’m sure both ladies would give it their all —it just could not capture the magic,
