James Gandolfini Died During Father-Son Trip: New Details

New details have emerged about the death of James Gandolfini and it now appears he was in the middle of a father-son trip with his teenage son Michael, according to TMZ.

The trip was intended to be both business and pleasure for the 51-year-old actor, who was to attend the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, Italy this week. He also made time to spend some quality time with Michael, who had just graduated the eighth grade.

James‘ first wife Marcy Wudarski immediately flew to Italy to be with her son after she was told that James had died.

We send out our continued condolences to the Gandolfini family during this incredibly difficult time.

    OMG, that is horrible and even sadder. Poor, poor, Michael! My heart goes out to him. I really hope he didn’t find his dad. Now at least for the time being he’s in a foreign country alone, until his mom get there. Oh god just no words…

  • :O

    Omg that’s just heartbreaking…

    my mother died suddenly while on vacation overseas. I know all too well what his family is going through. It’s horrible. Waiting for the body to come back, being in limbo. It’s just horrible.

    It’s so sad. My prayers go to the family and that poor boy.
    It’s not like he died in a foreign country though. Gandolfini’s parents are both italians. He can probably have relatives there.

    @Mini Chastity Bono:

    Let’s see, physically fit basketball player dies while playing in game. Physically fit track star dies right before trials. There are a great many ‘fit’ people out there that have hearts ready to explode. Someone can do everything in their power to stay healthy, but the mysteries of the heart is something they, nor the doctors, can detect. Let’s not get on weight issues right now when the family is grieving, OK?

    My friends father, who loved to hike, swim through national parks died in his sleep while camping in Yosemite. The man worked out every day. I know what my friend is going through, so my heart goes out to the Gandolfini family, especially his son.

    You’re a creeper. Shame on you. Mind your own business and stay off this post. Real fans want to express their sympathies and love for a great actor. STFU.

    RIP M.Gandolfini. He was great and will be missed. I feel bad for his young son who witnessed everything. According to People Mag, Michael was the one who called the hotel’s crew.

    So incredible sad.. My heart goes out to his family, especially his son and his baby daughter. No words.. just sad :(

    I’ve never been a fan of him, or his works, but losing a father is an irreversible tragedy, and leaves an uncomfortably numb feeling. You don’t get your fathers back when they die of a sudden cardiac arrest cause, nor any other fatal illnesses. They’re straight-out taken from your life. My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family and friends. Poor Michael and Marcy. :( RIP, James.

    Glad to see all the praise and attention being given to this wonderful actor instead of being given to that family of self-absorbed, greedy and useless individuals, the Kardashians. Maybe we can move on from that pathetic bunch.
