Matt Damon Discusses World Water Crisis with 'Men's Health'
Matt Damon shows off his pearly whites on the cover of Men’s Health magazine’s January/February issue, on newsstands now.
Here’s what the 43-year-old actor, who gave the mag a first-hand look at his efforts and commitment to the global water crisis through his organization, Water.org, had to share with the issue:
On understanding the water crisis: “I had the problem a lot of people in the West have. It didn’t make sense to me. All our kids get diarrhea. But the idea that that could be life-threatening…you’ve got to get people to understand that it’s an issue.”
On his organization changing the life of a Haitian girl: “She was the water bearer for her family. So I asked her, ‘Now do you have more time for your homework?’ And she goes, ‘I don’t need more time for my homework; I’m the smartest kid in my class.’ So I said, ‘What are you going to do with three extra hours?’ And she looked at me and said, ‘I’m going to play.’ It’s was wonderful, and just devastating.”
