Final 'Divergent' Book 'Allegiant' to Be Split Into Two Movies!

Final 'Divergent' Book 'Allegiant' to Be Split Into Two Movies!

Lionsgate has just announced that the third Divergent book “Allegiant” will be split into two separate movies, Variety reports.

“Allegiant” is the final book in the Veronica Roth series for young adults.

The Divergent series is not the only series to have split the final book in a series into two movies – the Harry Potter series and the Hunger Games series both split their final parts into two separate movies as well.

The first Divergent film was released last month and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, and more.

ARE YOU EXCITED about the “Allegiant” split news??

I knew that was going to happen.

Following in the foot steps of Twilight, The Hunger Games and Harry Potter…
These studios don’t even try to hide the fact anymore that they just want to milk as much money from franchises any more…Soon they will split a single adapted book into 5 movies.

Seriously? The last book wasn’t any longer than the others and it was the worst book in the series. There was way less action in that one so I really didn’t see why they would split it other than trying to milk the franchise and make it a cash cow.

After Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games? Wow, That’s surprising :D :D

The Hobbit have one book but somehow they manage making three films.

I’m happy. I love Shai and Theo and the other cast members. Hope they turn out great.

GREED. It is a terrible book, much liberty will have to be taken in adapting the book to make the film/s any way decent, that also applies to insurgent which was a meh book and completely uncinematic. The first film was enjoyable and unfairly judged by critics but they have a job on their hands to make the following films watchable.

I’m excited about all the upcoming Divergent films, and I’m interested to see how they’re going to pull it off.

Insurgent seems the more likely one to be split into two films; there’s a lot that happens with the plot (even though it’s not the final book), but in my opinion, Allegiant isn’t as plot heavy to carry two separate films.

Not sure why the studio decided to follow this trend; I’m sure it’s all about the money, but we’ll see…

These movie franchises need to stop, Harry potter did it first and you should try to be all a little more original. After the fifth movie being split into 2 parts it gets a little TOO old

Not surprised @ 04/11/2014 at 2:55 pm

I’m not mad about it being split because I love the Divergent series, but after Harry Potter and the last Twilight (two books that were REALLY big books in size and story) needed to be split, I wasn’t surprised when Summit followed suit to get extra movie with Mockingjay and I’m really not surprised they’re doing it with Allegiant. That book isn’t even much different in size from Divergent and Insurgent. Only HP and Twilight needed the split movies, and in fact, the Twilight movie was discussed about being split long before the HP ones got split because the author never could see how it could be one movie. Not to knock Potter though, I’m a hgue fan of both. Back to Divergent and THG, this sounds more like greed that a creative need, but oh well, more movie for me!

Makes Sense @ 04/11/2014 at 3:09 pm

This makes total sense to me. It’s not about Allegiant being any longer than the other books, it’s that the story in the final book covers WAY TOO MUCH. The book itself should have been written as two books in my opinion. It went in the weirdest direction, going from one world to another to another. I’m sure it’s a money thing for Summit, but from a story-telling perspective, it makes sense to me that it would need to be split in two. And I love Shailene and Theo so no complaints here. They better get shooting though because Theo is 30 now!

This is dumb. Nothing really exciting happens in the first half of the book that could justify two movies.

Horrible and disgusting movie. EW

book* AND MOVIE IS TERRIBLE AS BOOK.
