This is the great news, Lupita? meh

@amanda: Seriously? They’re playing ANIMALS. Obviously I’d understand you if they cast a white kid to play Mowgli in a live action adaptation, but considering Nyong’o is playing a wolf and Johansson is only voicing a character, your complaints are overreaching.

EAST ASIANS CAN READ MINDS!!!! Says:

Asians can hear, and see what you’re visually thinking.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE OR A MEME! This is the absolute complete truth!!!!
    .
Asians hide their mind reading abilities by a lot of them having completely expressionless faces so they don’t accidentally show facial expressions when people think things they don’t like, find funny, astonishing, etc, Asians segregate so their not nearly as susceptible to that happening.
Asians also segregate, and are untalkative to avoid accidentally saying things that are similar to what people are thinking and going to say.
    .
All Asians are keeping their mind reading abilities a secret, they don’t want ANYONE to know they can read minds! They value hiding it more than their own lives!!!
    .
Try thinking, and visually picturing things as wild as you can when you are around Asians, it works if you try enough!!! Also look for Asians who give people dirty/particular looks for what appears to be for completely no reason.

@lol: she’s getting multiple offers for movie roles and is a legitimate ivy league drama school actress, so your point is? she has genuine talent, if you expect her to be only purposefully handed with oscar nominating roles left and right like overexposed PR golden girl j.law, that will be a nuisance. its better to take a breather instead of taking movie role after movie role, you will start to be considered as annoying and won’t be recognized for the characters you play. i think lupita is more knowledgeable than her own agent about what movies are good for her career, she’s a very intelligent woman.

Sca and Lu are up for diff roles. I don’t think this is the big announcement though.

Hey dan…Jennifer Lawrence has been around a hell of a lot longer than Nyong’o (who is as OVERRATED as hell)..one freaking film…one freaking small part in a big film and Nyong’o should get everything that comes down the pike??. Jennifer Lawrence has been receiving critical acclaim for her work in films since she was 15. Overexposed???…nope, that’s Nyong’o territory. Lawrence promotes a film then disappears…Nyong’o hangs around well after and it’s annoying.

    talia Says:

@Dev: I’m not even a fan of JLaw and even I know that she only started receiving critical acclaim at the age of 20 which is when she did winters bone but yes lawrnceis overrated which is an opinion a lot people shared during awards season, some were even Lawrence fans.

    Meg Says:

@Dev: I think both actresses are talented, but I have to laugh at your comment. Jennifer got critical acclaim and tons of praise for ONE movie (Winter’s Bone) and got many nominations, including an Oscar, just like Lupita did…only Jennifer lost the first go around. Because of Jennifer’s nomination, she got higher ranked for The Hunger Games and made connections with Hollywood big wigs which got her Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Two movies that she got two more Oscar nominations out of….AH wasn’t even the best she could do. So I could DEFINITELY see how that person thought she was overrated because between SLP, XMen and THG, there wasn’t a month you could go through without hearing about “America’s new best friend JLaw”. The only difference between Lupita and Jennifer coming out of nowhere and getting an Oscar nom is that LN got the Oscar on her first shot. Lupita has been acting for many years too but under the radar and using that time to properly study it at an ivy league school, produce and direct. Jennifer starred in a MTV Sweet 16 commercial to get her SAG card after being a cheerleader in HS and then and then playing rinky-dink roles in a couple of TV movies and TV series and indie flicks. She didn’t do anything worth mentioning until Winter’s Bone, much like Lupita with 12 Years A Slave. You don’t know if Lupita will have many more shining moments yet just like we didn’t know if Jennifer would after losing the Oscar back in 2011. Just because Lupita didn’t star on an episode of Cold Case or Monk before her first major film like Jen doesn’t mean her work isn’t impressive. Jennifer promotes a movie and disappears NOW…but when Winter’s Bone and Silver Linings Playbook came out and when it was awards season she was EVERYWHERE. Lupita might begin to stop going to every event as well after her next movie. It’s as if you have amnesia when it comes to how often Jennifer was in the spotlight, the public eye, and every other JJ post. Like I said, I like Jennifer and Lupita both very much but please don’t come on this board and act as if Jennifer is above Lupita. Both actresses are talented, both have worked up in the industry in their own ways, and both women had overexposed moments.

    doo Says:

Lawrence is way more overrated that Lupita. EVERYTHING J-LAW DOES IS OVERRATED. EVEN HER FREAKING BREATHING.
Anyway, I don’t think this is the big news Lupita was talking about or maybe it’s just a part of it. Maybe the People news was first, then this, then probably Star Wars confirmation or something else. I think she now has a lot of movie offers and she is trying to see what role fits her and what her schedule is. I think she is ok for the part, even if it’s just voice acting, but about Scarlett…hell no. I really like her as an actress but am I the only one around here that doesn’t find her voice attractive? Even in Her she kinda sucked. So nope, I don’t wanna her voicing a snake.

The number of films doesn’t matter. Some really great movies have starred unknown actors. Popular doesn’t equal better.
