Jack Huston Lands Title Role in 'Ben-Hur' Remake

Jack Huston just landed a star-making role as the title character in the upcoming Ben-Hur remake!

The 31-year-old actor is best known for his role as Richard Harrow on the hit HBO series Boardwalk Empire and he was most recently seen on screen in American Hustle.

Jack reportedly was up for the role Ben-Hur’s rival Messala, but director Timur Bekmambetov decided he was better suited for the lead role, according to Deadline. Morgan Freeman is already set to play the role of Ildarin, the man who teaches Ben-Hur how to be a chariot racer.

It was originally reported that Tom Hiddleston was being courted to play Ben-Hur, the role which was played by Charlton Heston in the original 1959 movie.

Excellent casting. Huston seems regal and exudes intelligence, a bit of tortured soul and quiet strength. Plus he looks more Jewish than Heston did. This remake will be epic. Can ‘t wait for the chariots race.

  • No no no!!!

This movie is going to bomb! Ben-hur IS a classic! You can’t remake a
movie like that! It’s like I guess the studios just don’t have enough imagination to come up with original movies!

  • See

Actors with Jewish mothers and non-Jewish fathers -Jake Gyllenhaal, Dave Franco, Scarlett Johansson, Daniel Radcliffe, Alison Brie, Eva Green, Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Connelly, Eric Dane, Jeremy Jordan, Joel Kinnaman.

It will be full of CGIs . Better use the money and talent somewhere. The movie is so classic and unique, you’d better leave it alone.

  • THIS IS IT

The Heston version was a remake. @Sam: Neither of the 3 actors “looked” Jewish, whatever that means, or are Jewish practitioners. Another remake no one wants or needs. Watch the Heston version. It’s all in that one.

I’m always leery about the remakes, but I do like Jack Huston as an actor–thought he was great in Boardwalk Empire–so, I’m glad he’s been given this opportunity!

He’sa a really good and charasmtic actor. Great to see him land a high profile role but I’m very sceptuical about the director.

for me jack huston is one of the Huston family,I mean john huston ,angelica huston, etc.I hope he’s great in that role, because chalton Heston was amazing:tom hiddleston was perfect ,but too young for a part so hard to play.I hope that Tom will find another film like this, and with an appropriate role for him.

    @No no no!!!:
Your remake of Ben-Hur is doomed! It will bigger waste of money than the TV movie picks up the story after “Gone With The Wind” had ended.
Anyway, a vast majority of people under 50 years old have never heard of and/or seen Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston. If you are really smart in making a tons of money have a new showing nation wide, made in 8K high definition with state of the art sound system, in all theaters nation wide and and point out that no movie has won more Academy awards, than Ben-Hur! You must advertise this on a grand scale, so everybody will know about it! Start with the churches in America!
If a select few raise hell against the movie, even better! Look what happened to Mel Gibson’s movie ‘The Passion of the Christ” He made over 600 Million Dollars and laughing all the way to bank. If God backs you up, it does matter who is against you! You will win!

Your remake of Ben-Hur shall be a total disaster! It will be a total waste of money and film and be worse than the TV movie, which picked up the story after, “Gone With The Wind”, had ended.

Anyway, a vast majority of people under 50 years old have never ever heard of and/or seen Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston ( 1959 ) movie. They will be confuse and think you are talking about that big clock in London, England called Big Ben or will not know anything about either one, and will say I don’t know what you are talking about!

If you are smart, you’ll realize, to produce an enormous amount of money, gross revenue, with extremely low cost factor, then have a new national showing in America of The Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston ( 1959 ) movie, made in 8K high definition with state of the art sound system, in all theaters in America and point out that no other movie has won more Academy awards, than Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston ( 1959 )!

This movie has established the Best in making movies. The historians and archeologists claim, this movie is more accurate in history and artifacts for the time period, of which this fictitious story ( of Ben-Hur and Messala ) had occurred and other movies don’t even come close. You must advertise this on a grand scale, so everybody will know about it! Start with the churches in America!

Some will raise all kinds of hell against the movie, even better! Look what happened to Mel Gibson’s movie ‘The Passion of the Christ” He made over 600 Million Dollars and is laughing all the way to bank. If God backs you up, it doesn’t matter who is against you! You will win!
