President Obama Meets Nina Pham, Nurse Who Survived Ebola

President Barack Obama gives a hug to Dallas nurse Nina Pham while meeting with her in the Oval Office of the White House on Friday (October 24) in Washington, D.C.

The 26-year-old nurse contracted the virus while treating patient Thomas Eric Duncan at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. She was diagnosed on October 12 and declared free of the virus on Friday.

“Although I no longer have Ebola, I know that it may be awhile before I have my strength back,” Nina said (via CNN). “So with gratitude and respect for everyone’s concern, I ask for my privacy and for my family’s privacy to be respected as I return to Texas and try to get back to a normal life and reunite with my dog, Bentley.”

Nina‘s dog Bentley was placed in quarantine and will remain there until the end of the month, though she will get to visit, hold, and play with him this weekend.

Nah, he’s trying to show he’s not afraid of Ebola and the people that have had it. I think that’s brave and fearless, but I hope people are careful cause if he did get ill, there would be some people upset, worried, and concerned. Don’t hate the people that care about you. Just saying….

He looks like he’s wondering if there is still a small possibility that she has it.

yea because there has never been cases when a person has been cleared of a disease and actually still has it. how dumb is this president?

I totally agree…science…But lets take what we’ve learned and apply to a few things…this is where I think we need to be more aware. I’ve learned about hepatitis B and various flus and bugs that in past had more of a mortality rate than Ebola….Ironically, I remember a young pregnant woman dying of H1N1 a few years back in Texas…as a matter of fact, Texas was hard hit with that and it was in the news…also, one year here in GA, we had an epidemic of outbreaks of flu that cleared the schools for weeks all because all the kids went to get their booster shots and the Dr’s office was contaminated with improperly disposed flu biohazard things and improperly cleaned. And you say why over the flu??? Just get a flu shot? Sometimes, a flu shot is too late. And in the young and the old, flu leads to RSV, walking pneumonia, and weakened immune systems to catch things like spinal meningitis. Babies who get these most likely end up with cognitive and learning issues from oxygen deprivation to the brain…hence special education children.
Here’s what I think needs work…..procedures. Across the board. CDC and state health officials coming together, outlining a better strategy, and better monitoring of these things. They get out of hand so fast. Make sure there are hospitals and medical centers trained in better containment. States need better monitoring over counties and counties with cities….everyone on the same page and same alert system like national weather alerts or Amber alerts…that go out to all medical facilities. Just my opinion.

Goes to show, President Barrack would make a good male nurse if not the Physician. Could be like a spiritual healer?
