it is quite the double standard that guys can run around shirtless and women cannot … is there a legitimate reason? … other than anti-women tradition from bible thumpers …

  • Rachel Lee

Um, yeah, because it’s, unfortunately, all turning women into sex objects. Let’s be real here: there are men who like to look at porn. No, let me rephrase that. There are a LOT of men in this world that look at porn. And that industry is extremely detrimental for women. And the porn industry boosts sex trafficking. So, there is honestly never going to be a day when women can run around naked like men. :P

  • Mikko Barros

And how about before the “porn industry” existed?

As for the topic, its rather hilarious, that the picture is censored on an article asking whether it should be censored. Delicious!

  • Ash

You sexist idiot!Nobody forces those women to do porn. It’s their body so it’s their decision to be sexualized or not.Empowerment of women is about to respect their choices whether they want to be a president or a porn star.Which part of equality don’t you understand? Also, don’t be naive. There are tons of women who love to watch porn as well but they won’t admit it.Yes not as many as men but still the number is pretty high.It is not women’s responsibility to cover themselves if people like you feel uncomfortable by their skin.

  • anon

Like her father can really do anything about that

  • plez

Would you be ok for men to walk around with no pants or underwear on? If not, why not.

BTW in NYC you can walk around shirtless and braless all you want. Most women don’t. So basically this is not a real problem just silly celebs who don’t want to tackle real problems women have to deal with.

  • anon

I think the last time he tried to do something she almost cut him out of her life.. I think he’s scared he may risk losing her for good if he says anything to her

  • FormerLamark

“Free the nipple”? To make much more pervert monsters to be convinced that women are only sex objects and are only for men to have fun with their naked bodies and every nude woman is a free prey for men to flatly hunt/rape them? Is this really “equality”? Equality in which, exactly? Men will never think half-nude women are “equal” in anything! Nude women are just an “Invitations to a waltz” for men. Men already think that lesbians are just to turn men on even more, for example.
And why do these women want their bodies to be just exhibits like in the museum and anybody can gaze/fantasize on/about them?

  • bkgirl

a lot less ratchet than the pasties.

  • Ash

No it’s not okay because penis is a genital(a sexual organ an equal to vagina) and breasts are not but over time breasts have been sexualized up to a point where now breasts are such a taboo body parts. What this campaign really is about for these women is they want the same right to bare their chests as men and to claim the right to decide on their own which body parts they can and cannot show. It’s a woman’s decision to decide for her body not society.Practically just to have equal rights as men.Simple as that.

  • videorov

Nothing to see from this freakshow.

  • Rachel Lee

Lol!!! Me, sexist? I’m just stating the truth of the matter being that the more women try to make equality being about their body and nakedness, the more they are becoming objectified. A woman should be able to be respected for what she says, not how she looks. So, that is why the whole “free the nipple” campaign is so stupid to me. And you know what, a lot of women who are desperate for attention or money go into the porn industry or become strippers. I’m not trying to come off as judgmental, but it is an INDUSTRY based on how a woman looks sexually. Do you not see how this makes women become objectified even more? Yes?

  • Carmen

LOL Is there a legit reason? Yeah – naked boobs provoke sexual feelings! Imagine how many men will walk around with boners whether they want to or not!

  • eternalozzie

so does working with people … going to school with people… so does growing up … now that I think about it we should outlaw human contact all together

  • Carmen

It’s just an attention seeking strategy. Imagine all the attention women would get walking around half naked.

  • Carmen

Nope. Just the naked boob stuff. No need to provoke on purpose.

  • Mike1288

Technically nipples are. Womans nipples are much more sensitive than mens and can be used to “excite” and “pleasure” a woman. I do agree you can not compare boobs to a penis cause your right they are not the same. But realistically they are a turn on to men. They have been way before porn.

  • Ash

Women’s nipples are not not much more sensitive than men’s.Sensitive nipples is based on individual not gender.Like I said breasts have been sexualized and they became taboo so men just can’t help it but to play and fondle with breasts because it’s not something they see everyday and the excitement of exploring the taboo. The function of male and female nipples are pretty much the same.Did you know that men can lactate as well?Yeah google it.Again,it is not women’s responsibility to cover themselves because men get turned on by their body.Actually showing breasts started to become an issue and taboo when modern religion started to rise.In ancient Egypt, breasts are not something women have to cover but something they can show and be proud of in the same sense as when men showing their pecs and proud of.Their mentality was different back then.Women had more rights more than 2000 years ago than they have today.Cleopatra herself would walk around with an outfit that would expose her breasts entirely.Something that we don’t see in every movie ever made about her.

  • ThatGuyRaphael

Chill. is a nipple not godzilla

Sign of the times. Topless in public for women is legal in quite a few states now. All of them if you actually follow the Constitution. The fourteenth amendment says no state shall pass or enforce any law that denies any citizen equal protection under the law. If I, as a man, am protected from arrest and prosecution while baring my chest in public when the law does not define that as nudity, how can a law not violate the Constitution when it denies women these same protections? This kind of discrimination is getting as old as the white man’s drinking fountain. The laws and society are catching up to the age of the internet. Time for us to teach our sons that this is as normal as when any man does it instead of teaching them to sexualize women’s bodies. I myself have a son turning ten. I had the talk already.

  • S A Reinhardt

I wouldn’t have any problem seeing my mother or my sister, even my grandmother for that matter, enjoying the right to walk as my equal. The point is that a bared breast should not automatically become a sexual stimulant. If you cannot view a woman’s bare chest without becoming aroused, the problem is an internal one within you. Get some help.

  • S A Reinhardt

True, a man’s body is different from that of a woman’s. I don’t look at a man’s legs and get aroused. But we don’t force women in the US to cover their legs in shame just because they are different from those of us men. Why should their chests be any different?

  • S A Reinhardt

I see it this way: all summer long here in Michigan, women see us men without our shirts. And during this time women think little to nothing of it. When fall comes and the weather turns cold we all put our shirts (and more) back on and as fall becomes winter the women begin to starve for the sight of what was, only a few months ago, a common sight. By spring I’m seeing my female friends posting shirtless cowboy pictures with commentary and I almost have to dismantle my computer monitor to wipe their drool and slobber from the inside of my screen. Then summer comes and all goes back to normal. The reason men obsess over women’s breasts is because for us, summer never comes. The Constitution is on your side. Make it summer.

  • S A Reinhardt

As was stated in more than one post above, what “provoke(s) sexual feelings” is the violation of a taboo. This taboo is only created when women hide their breasts from men’s view. The more men sexualize breasts, the more women feel compelled to hide them from view. This only strengthens the taboo creating a viscous cycle. If you want to desexualize breasts, peel your shirts of on a warm day to get comfortable and give that challenging look to anyone who looks like they are about to object.

One of the main reasons that breast are so arousing to so many men is that they are covered most of the time.

Have them out all the time and the arousal will be less.

The prohibition is what causes the effect you have so much of a problem with.

  • http://www.bikexprt.com/streetsmarts/usa/index.htm billdav

Women sunbathing topless on a beach or on their lawn are not doing porn by doing so. Breasts are not pornography, unless you’re nuts.

The problem here is the extreme over sexualization of breasts, which is a direct result of them being required to be hidden and commonly treated as indecent. Breasts aren’t for sex. They’re for feeding babies.
