Zoe Saldana Won't Boycott Dolce & Gabbana: It Would Be the 'Stupidest Thing'

Zoe Saldana has opened up about the Dolce & Gabbana controversy, where many celebrities have announced a desire to boycott the fashion brand after their comments about “synthetic children.”

When asked if she too would boycott the brand, the 36-year-old actress responded, “No! Not at all, that would be the stupidest thing if it affected my fashion choice. People are allowed to their own opinion, however, I wouldn’t have chosen to be so public about something that’s such a personal thing.”

“Obviously it caused some sensitivity, but then again if you continue to follow the news, you see they all kinda hugged it out, so why are we making a big deal about it?” Zoe continued to E! News.

Read Dolce & Gabbana’s original quotes that enraged the likes of Elton John, Ryan Murphy, Cher, and more.

#boycott fashion; shows, how insipid and stupid hollywood is????

  • RunyonBoy

When exactly did they hug it out??? Add one more to the list of actors and actresses whose films I won’t be watching.
“People are allowed to their own opinion…” Are you kidding me with this? Wonder if she would have said the same thing if they had made racist comments. Me thinks not!

Zoe is not one of my favorite people. But I really respect her rational point of view on this. She’s spot on.

People are entitled to their opinions. I don’t agree with what he said. Giving love and support to any child is the most selfless thing you can do whether you’re gay or straight. I actually pitty them for not being capable if love like that. I think it’s people’s right to criticize them like you as well and I think the best thing you can do is boycott. But I also think you should realize that many people don’t have a passion for the topic or gays. They just don’t care and they are entitled to that as well. I think you are expecting too much out of people.

  • Lacey

Finally someone that makes sense! It is pretty asinine of elton john to assume everyone can afford dolce and gabbana and that we should boycott the brand. I hate rich people, when something does not go their way they want to use the less fortunate to agree with them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion weather we like it or not. I disagree with the comments dolce and gabbana made, but i`m not going to throw a fit and show people that i`m too rich and can basically boycott any designer like elton john is doing.

  • nardy

    Totally agree with her.

  • VanityInsecurity

Thanks to Zoe for her showing how to be tolerant.

  • meadowlark

What? Her comment makes no sense. If D&G are entitled to their (very harmful & degrading) opinions, then other people are CERTAINLY entitled not to give their money to a company that vocally spews such opinions. Out of these two actions, the one that is “stupid” is D&G’s , not the people who choose where to spend their money.

  • Benny Ehud

Screw Elton John! Dolce and Gabbana doesn’t hire blacks in executive positions. But, that is OK? We should boycott them b//c of something they said about gays? GTFOH

  • jsdnkjdnf

Tolerant of intolerance? You’re obviously too stupid to realize how stupid that concept is.

  • jsdnkjdnf

She’s an idiot and so are you.

  • jsdnkjdnf

She is so unbelievably dumb, and the more she talks the dumber she reveals herself to be. She probably agrees with what they said.

  • angiefan

Calling some stupid of their own opinion which there entitled too makes you intolerance. EVERYONE is ENTITLED to their own opinion. Whether it’s a negative or positive comment. We do not live in a dictatorship.

  • angiefan

Calling people names for their own opinion just proves that you are uneducated AND MORONIC SHIT TALKER

  • elisilla

    me too!

  • b324

    1. Because it might affect her clothing options, intolerance is okay. Wow. And 2. When did anyone “hug it out” ??

One has to wonder if Dolce and Gabana came out against interracial children, would she still be willing to support them and okay their opinions? It’s amazing how people are okay with intolerance and bigotry and racism because “it doesn’t affect me personally so what do I care?” Why does something have to affect you personally before you care? I’m white and straight but damn if I’m not okay with people who hate on someone because of the color of their skin or their sexual preference.

It’s also amazing how many people are okay with people being intolerant, prejudiced, racists and bigots, but the second someone speaks out, boycotts or protests, THOSE people aren’t allowed their opinions and should shut up. Or my personal favorite, said by a poster (who has already made a comment here), protesting a business makes the protester a bully (lmfao…I guess speaking out against inequality and ignorance is a bad thing, damn all those suffragette bullies and founding fathers bullies who said no more to King George). I’m sorry, but I guess I will always be a “bully” who speaks out/protests against ignorance and stupidity, otherwise that wins out and the world never grows.

  • b324

    WHOOOOOOOOOSHHHHH

That is the sound of you not understanding a single thing about a protest. Or what is really happening.

  • b324

Thank you! Someone who actually understands what is happening.

  • b324

Man, it’s amazing how ignorant people are and how willing they are to okay people’s intolerance.

There are people in this country who believe racism is okay and that we should bring back slavery because with slavery, black people had jobs and had a home and lived with their family and were happy.

So I’m just suppose to nod and agree with it because if I speak out against it or boycott any businesses who believe that, I AM the a-hole who is being intolerant of people’s rights to their opinions.

Do some of you even hear the ridiculousness that is your comments? Gooooood lord.

  • angiefan

This isn’t a dictatorship bitch! Get over it.

  • Lacey

I do undestand, basically its rich people getting mad at other rich people over a comment. Who gives if they make those comments, they are the ones looking ignorant, elton john is just a little troll basically showing how he can afford boycotting dolce. It is none of our business to get in their petty cat fight, give it time and i bet they will kiss and makeup and make a whole deal out of that too.

  • Lacey

people like you and people who are in favor of elton john on boycott dolce trend will feel pretty asinine when he kisses and makes up with those two in a couple of months.

  • Rosa Amanda

Who cares what this ugly chimp thinks! D & G don’t want her wearing their clothes in the first place.

  • neil adlington

Get a grip. Zoe’s right. Like me, she was probably rolling her eyes, and thinking, tempest in a tea pot. There are issues and then there are ISSUES. Starvation is an issue. Starving children shouldn’t eat newspapers because THE INK IS BAD FOR THEM, is not an issue and even insulting to the larger issue. Racist language is an issue but trying to equate this as equally offensiveness is…. offensive. All parties involved with this nonsense should be ashamed of their self-important, self-entitled, petty, precious and diva-like behaviour. Did I say offensive?

  • neil adlington

Wow, I could never be that naked and revealing about my ignorance. I feel embarrassed for you. A thread about intolerance and you make that comment…. Perhaps you should show your mother your comment and ask her what’s wrong with it, or did you learn this from her?

  • Methadras

Isn’t it great to watch the thought control mafia out in full force? Say something about homosexuals and parenting the velvet mafia comes out in force. D&G can speak their minds without having to be destroyed for it and this is what speech has come to. In that if you disagree with anything and voice your opinions about it, there will be a mob out there waiting to destroy you publicly and financially. Anyone who is a member of this mob should seriously look at what they are doing and try to remember that they look like nothing but a starf*cker in all of this.

  • Methadras

Did Elton John need to insinuate himself into faux public outrage? I don’t think so, but now that you are going to take sides in a word war that was neither harmful nor degrading (prove it otherwise), then one has to ask why you care? Don’t be one of those people.

  • Methadras

I think utterly vapid is the phrase you were looking for.

  • Methadras

So disagreement isn’t now seen as intolerance? #thoughtmobster = jsdnkjdnf

  • Methadras

Who would be saying this? Can you name names instead of making blanketed statements without proof?

  • Guest

Exactly! LOL Who wants to bring back slavery?? I have never met anyone in my life that wants to bring back slavery not even people with some amount of bias so stop lying! LOL

  • Guest

Your mother is an ugly chimp you fat pig bitch!!

  • disqus_21ST2x6BRX

Hypocrite!! This is your comment about Zendaya when she voice her concerns over racist comments! Or are you selective and only care about “gay” issues!?!?

    RunyonBoy a month ago

Oh get over it, it’s freakin’ Fashion Police for Christ’s sake!

    ————————-
So maybe you need to get over it cause its just freaking clothes p*$$yboy!!! Zo doesnt need your minimum wage movie ticket purchases. I think she will be alright!

  • RunyonBoy

    Busted! Arrest me now! #eyeroll

  • Invitado

    Give her a banana!

  • meadowlark

Lol. If you honestly can’t see what’s harmful and degrading about calling children born as a result of IVF “synthetic” and saying gay couples shouldn’t raise children, then you’re beyond help. Sorry, not going to waste my time trying to explain to civility & decency to you.

  • meadowlark

Speaking up for gay rights and respecting people will never make feel asinine, nor would anything Elton John does change the way I feel about how awful D&G’s comments were. But if you take your morality cues from celebs, hey, that’s your business. Do your thing.

  • Methadras

Your intolerance to ideas different than your is truly makes you uncivil and indecent. That’s the truth of it.

  • meadowlark

Oh, I see. You’re one of those people who thinks homophobia/racism/sexism are “ideas” that need to be “tolerated”. Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Methadras

I never said that, I said that you are intolerant of ideas different than yours. Thank you for illustrating what your type of group think looks like. Maybe if you stopped assuming what people think and putting words in their mouths you might actually learn something, but I have a strong suspicion that you are the kind of person that uses intimidation and smear as a tactic to silence thoughts and ideas different than yours. Whether I agree with D&G or Elton John or not isn’t the issue, it’s your actions in trying to squelch not only different ideas and thought, but opposing ideas and thought that is really what is being highlighted here and you are proving that you are intolerant. Period.

  • EdgyLefty

…Said the seemingly typical “idiot”-like internet poster. :-)
