Kristen Stewart: 'Hollywood is Disgustingly Sexist'

Kristen Stewart takes the cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine’s June 2015 issue, on newsstands April 30.

Here’s what the 25-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On sexism in Hollywood: “Women inevitably have to work a little bit harder to be heard. Hollywood is disgustingly sexist. It’s crazy. It’s so offensive it’s crazy.”

On her own sex scenes: “I only hate them when they’re contrived. That’s when it’s grotesquely uncomfortable. On Twilight we had to do the most epic sex scene of all time. It had to be transcendent and otherworldly, inhuman, better sex than you can possibly ever imagine, and we were like, ‘How do we live up to that? It was agony. Which sucks, because I wanted it to be so good.”

On her weight: “I’m a little bigger than sample size when I’m eating cheeseburgers and am happy and comfortable. If I’m stressed or working, the weight falls off. My weight and my sleep are tied to my nervous system. Sometimes I’ll sleep for 12 hours a night and sometimes sleep just doesn’t exist for me for a couple of months.”

The full interview appears in the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar, on sale April 30. For further exclusive content, please go to HarpersBazaar.co.uk.

The inside picture on the beach is so much better than the cover. I just wish she wouldn’t speak.

  • Sandy McFarlane

she’s 100% right tho about the whole sexism thing in workplaces.

  • S J

She’s right. After reading the Sony emails and hearing the way some of the Avengers cast talk about one of their own characters, I can’t even imagine how intimidating it must be to be an actress.

  • Sin NN

The one good thing with Twilight, and a fantastic one at that, is that it made it possible for Kristen Stewart to puke all over Hollywood and being listened to by millions of people.

  • Baseliner

it’s still easier for a white actress to get better parts than a minority male. If kristen were not white, she would not have made it, she should count her blessings.

  • krtmom

She always looks uncomfortable and awkward. The sex scenes in Twilight weren’t anything worth remembering.

  • devvv

The world is sexist. Women literally everywhere have to work harder to gain the same recognition as male counterparts. It’s not a new concept. All of these lily white women of Hollywood like Kristen and Patricia Arquette need to get over themselves.

  • Lola

Just because it is not a new concept doesn’t mean women should sit there and ignore it. That’s not how we have got to this point where we can vote, work, and do our own and we could get to the point of equality if we keep fighting for it. You should take your own advice and get over yourself

  • Dee

cant wait to read the whole thing. im just loving who she is right now. shes coming into her own and its showing. and also the outfits she got to wear on this shoot are to die fooor!

  • devvv

We also didn’t get to this point by saying four sentences in an interview and then carrying with everyday life. There are plenty of women who are actively fighting sexism instead of just making remarks and patting themselves on the back. You can sit around and talk about a problem all you want, but action and talk are two different things.

  • Lola

Ok 1. That is not a like 4 lines in an interview. She got 14 pages so I’m pretty sure there’s more about it. Plus, look at her other interviews, she’s pretty open about being feminist. 2. I guess she does everything she can and she knows she doesn’t do enough. Sadly she’s a public figure so there will always be media and haters that will take everything she does or says out of context and creating controversy in a bad way. Best she can do is to speak and wait to her fans to listen. Btw right now she’s in a Twilight project that support women directors and promote women in the industry..

Easier for a Black Guy to get into the NBA than a White Girl. Go Figure.

The headline of the maganzine should be “Jobless in summer”

  • Isobel

Dammed if she does, dammed if she doesn’t. You usually have a high profiled person pushing for change, but obviously she just doesn’t score a win whatever she says about sexism. Should we have said the same about Sir Bob Geldof when he gathered so many performers together to “feed the world” cause isn’t it so easy for some rich guy to tell us all to give money?
