Who is Kylo Ren? Meet Star Wars' Villain Played by Adam Driver
Kylo Ren is your new villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Adam Driver is the man behind the mask in the just released movie!
The 32-year-old actor, who you might know from his Emmy-nominated work on HBO’s Girls, was actually a United States Marine before he got into acting. He served for over two and a half years before getting injured and he was ultimately medically discharged before being deployed to Iraq.
Adam married his longtime girlfriend Joanne Tucker back in June 2013 and he volunteers his time with a non-profit that he started called Arts in the Armed Forces, which puts on performances for military personnel.

Kylo Ren’s real name is Ben Solo, named in honor of Ben Kenobi, aka Obi-Wan Kenobi from the previous films. As the son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), we learn that through a chain of events he has fallen to the dark side and has become obsessed with his grandfather, Darth Vader.
Here is the official description that the character was given on the Star Wars website: “A dark warrior strong with the Force, Kylo Ren commands First Order missions with a temper as fiery as his unconventional lightsaber. As a leader of the First Order and a student of Supreme Leader Snoke, he seeks to destroy the New Republic, the Resistance and the legacy of the Jedi.”
