T.I. Releases Statement on Irving Plaza Concert Shooting, Rapper Troy Ave Arrested

T.I. is opening up about the shooting at his Irving Plaza concert in a new statement released on his Instagram page.

“My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives, like it has mine and many others,” the 35-year-old rapper wrote in the post. “My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss & my prayers are with all those injured. Respectfully, Tip.”

Four people were shot at the show on Wednesday night (May 25) and one of them has died.

Rapper Troy Ave, who was one of the four people shot, has been arrested in connection of the shooting. Surveillance video obtained by the New York Daily News shows him accidentally shooting himself in the leg while opening fire backstage. He is facing charges of reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession with a murder charge pending the results of a ballistics test.
