Andrew Lloyd Webber's Speech Gets Boos at Final Performance of His 'Cinderella' Musical in London

Andrew Lloyd Webber is likely losing more fans with his latest comments.

The famed composer wrote the music for the West End show Cinderella, which has had a troubled run in London over the past year. Lloyd Webber pushed for the UK to reopen theaters in summer 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and then performances had to be suspended for a month just two days before the official opening due to a cast member testing positive.

Lloyd Webber received major criticism when the show announced its closing notice last month as many cast members, as well as incoming cast members, were not informed before the news went public.

At the show’s final performance on Sunday (June 12), Lloyd Webber did not show up, but had someone read a speech he wrote. One comment in the speech drew boos from the audience.

Andrew Lloyd Webber recently told everyone how he really feels about the movie adaption of Cats. Here’s what he said!

Andrew Lloyd Webber Says The 'Cats' Movie Was 'Ridiculous'

Andrew Lloyd Webber is telling everyone how he really feels about the movie adaption of Cats.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the famed composer and creator of the Broadway musical called it “ridiculous”.

“The problem with the film was that Tom Hooper [director] decided that he didn’t want anybody involved in it who was involved in the original show,” Andrew said. “The whole thing was ridiculous.”

Cats debuted in theaters in December 2019 and starred Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Jason Derulo, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Rebel Wilson and many more.

The film only made 73 million at the box office. The total budget for the film was $100 million to produce, plus an additional $100 million for global marketing and distribution fees.

Taylor also commented about the backlash of the film, and James regrets being part of the film as well.
