Taylor Swift Co-Wrote a New Song for 'Cats' Movie with Andrew Lloyd Webber!

Taylor Swift will be eligible for the Best Original Song award at the 2020 Academy Awards as she has co-written a new song for the movie Cats!

The 29-year-old entertainer co-wrote the new song “Beautiful Ghosts” with Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Ballet star Francesca Hayward, who plays the white cat Victoria in the movie, will sing the song on screen. Taylor‘s version of the song will play in the end credits.

The character of Victoria was expanded for the screen and Lloyd Webber decided to write a new song for her. Variety reports that Taylor offered to write a lyric for the song and ended up contributing to the music as well. The two songwriters share credit for the tune.

Taylor plays the role of Bombalurina in the upcoming musical film and she’ll sing the song “Macavity the Mystery Cat.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber Reveals Which Roles Taylor Swift May Play in 'Cats' Movie

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is revealing some details about Taylor Swift‘s involvement in the Cats movie adaptation.

“We’re beginning to rehearse now,” Andrew told Vulture.

He added that Taylor might either play Bombalurina (the flirty cat) or the Demeter (the skittish cat). They sing “Macavity the Mystery Cat.”

“She’s going to play one or other of the ‘Macavity’ girls. Well, basically, [director] Tom Hooper thought it was a really good idea, and of course, she loves cats,” Andrew added. “We’ll see. I mean, I haven’t met her, so I’m looking forward to meeting her and seeing her [at work].”

The movie is also set to star Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen, and will be released on December 20, 2019.
