Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey star in the trailer for the star-studded film The Butler, in theaters October 18.

The movie tells the story of a White House butler (Whitaker) who served eight American presidents over three decades. The film traces the dramatic changes that swept American society during this time, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this man’s life and family.

The Butler also stars Alex Pettyfer, John Cusack, Robin Williams, Terrence Howard, James Marsden, Alan Rickman, Liev Schreiber, Melissa Leo, Minka Kelly, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jesse Williams, Vanessa Redgrave, Mariah Carey, David Oyelowo, and Lenny Kravitz. It was directed by Lee Daniels (The Paperboy, Precious), produced by Cassian Elwes, and executive produced by Hilary Shor.

Over the weekend, the 50-year-old actor’s new flick Oblivion raked in $38.2 million to top the box office.

Last week, Tom was all smiles while posing backstage with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Vanessa Williams at the Broadway play The Trip to Bountiful at The Stephen Sondheim Theater in New York City.

“Tom is the hardest-working, most focused, generous, passionate-about-the-form collaborator I could imagine,” J.J. Abrams recently shared about their collaboration on the 2006 film Mission Impossible III. “I was a first-time feature director, and before we started shooting Tom said, ‘I’m your actor; you’re the director.’ There was not a day on that movie when Tom was not supportive, encouraging, collaborative, excited. He never mandated anything. He never insisted on things going a certain way.”

Mariah Carey makes her way to location on the set of her upcoming film The Butler on Monday (August 20) in New Orleans, La.

This is our first glimpse of the 42-year-old entertainer on the set of the flick!

Tom Cruise holds up his award at a ceremony honoring him hosted by The Friars Club at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Tuesday (June 12) in New York City.

Earlier in the evening, the 49-year-old actor left his hotel on his way to the event holding his daughter Suri and followed behind by his son Connor.

Connor even held onto Suri‘s pocketbook and doll!

Jamie Chung and Cuba Gooding Jr. have each scored pilots at FOX.

The 28-year-old Sucker Punch actress is set to star in the network’s drama pilot The Asset about Anna King (played by Ali Larter), “a remarkably gifted globe-trotting photographer with a secret life: she’s a CIA field operative,” Deadline reports.

Jamie will take on the role of a CIA polygraph expert who administers a “confrontational polygraph” with Ali‘s character.

Cuba, meanwhile, is joining FOX’s legal drama pilot Guilty.

He’ll play defense attorney William “Billy” Remz who continues to solve cases even after he’s falsely convicted of fraud and has his legal license revoked.
