Lena Dunham chats on the phone while heading to the set of Girls on Tuesday (May 10) in the Lower East Side in New York City.
The 29-year-old actress took to Instagram that day to mourn co-star, Nick Lashaway, who died in a car accident earlier in the week.
“Just heard the incredibly sad news that Nick Lashaway was killed in a car accident on May 8th,” Lena wrote. “Nick was such a talented, funny and kind person and we were so lucky to have him as a part of the Girls family when he played Frank in episode 207. We will always remember the week we shared with him, his playful smile, his easy instincts and how much he made us laugh even when we had to stay up all night in the woods. We are sending love to his family and friends and feeling such gratitude for his gifts. RIP sweet Nick.”
All three women were outfitted by J. Crew and accessorized with J. Birnbach diamond rings and custom jewelry by Snash.
This year’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit – celebrating the opening of the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology exhibition – is co-chaired by Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and Apple exec Jonathan Ive.
Lena just wrote a passionate essay in support of Hillary Clinton for President.
“I’m with Hillary because of her commitment to women’s reproductive health and rights. The quest for reproductive care can be lonely, scary and crushingly expensive. As someone with a chronic reproductive illness who frequently receives treatment from kind, expert doctors and nurses, I believe all women and girls—even if they aren’t on premium cable—deserve that same level of care,” Lena wrote in Time magazine. “I respect Senator Sanders and his supporters. I am turned on by how informed and invigorated they have been throughout this campaign. And there’s a lot in Senator Sanders’s voting record to cheer about. But there’s no comparison between his commitment to fighting for women and Hillary’s. None. This has been her life’s work and she comes at it from every direction.”
The 29-year-old Girls star took to Instagram to show off a lovely ring he gave her for their anniversary.
“Early anniversary gift from boyfriend of the year @jackantonoff (care of @eriebasin in Brooklyn.) Turn of the century moonstone and peridot. I will so enjoy looking at it while I type words #ringbrag #jewelrybitch #friendshipring,” Lena captioned the photo, which you can see below.
Despite having talked about marriage in the past, Lena made sure to point out that it wasn’t an engagement ring.
Allison took to Instagram that day to tell her fans that she voted in the New York primary.
“🎶 When you all gon’ vote, vote, vote, vote, vote? 🎶 (I realize this isn’t my best caption effort. But I voted in the afternoon so all the good “I voted!” Insta captions were taken 😔),” she captioned the below photo.
Lena dished about having to show her private parts in the latest episode of Girls.
“We saw everything that I had to offer,” Lena joked to Seth. “It was shocking to me also. The thing is when they told me about it in the writers room, I was like ‘c’mon guys, don’t do this to me. Then five months later I was sitting there on the set listening to the director say they needed to add an extra key light because they couldn’t see quite clearly enough. I had to have an extra light for my vagina!”
“Here’s why it’s not porn,” Lena added. “You don’t see what’s inside so I feel like I can continue to proudly campaign for a presidential candidate without getting fired. Not that I have a problem with people who show what’s inside. I’m just saying that in our conservative nation, I didn’t go all the way.”
