The stars of Desperate Housewives are standing by show creator Marc Cherry with regards to Nicollette Sheridan‘s accusations of assault and battery.

Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria released this joint statement:

“It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing. We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicolette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment. It is, in fact, the opposite. The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day.”

Teri added in a separate statement, “I’m honored to stand with Eva, Felicity and Marcia, as a group and clarify that our set environment is nothing less than an amazingly positive experience. I have never felt discriminated against. In fact, I have felt heard and respected by Marc and other executives in regards to both my professional and personal needs.”

Nicollette is suing ABC and Marc for $20 million because he allegedly hit her.

Yesterday, it was revealed that former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan is suing ABC and series creator Marc Cherry for $20 million because he allegedly hit her.

The 46-year-old actress is now firing back after ABC released a statement.

“Nicollette worked very hard on the show and was a model employee,” Nicollette‘s attorney Mark Baute from L.A. law firm Baute & Tidus tells JustJared.com in a statement. “Mr. Cherry‘s behavior towards Nicollette was and is nothing short of abusive and appalling. The lawsuit is not something Nicollette wanted to do, it’s something she felt compelled to do. Nicollette asked ABC for help and protection from Mr. Cherry‘s abusive behavior, and ultimately, ABC was not willing or able to provide that protection. Sometimes the only way that a safe and normal work environment can be created is when a hard-working person like Nicollette stands up for herself and her rights, and in doing so help protect others who have had to work in a hostile environment. We expect the case to be hard fought, and it will not be a surprise if ABC and Mr. Cherry try to depict Nicollette to be something other than a team player and long-standing industry professional. She put her heart and soul into the role of the Edie character, a character that she truly enjoyed playing.”

Former Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan has sued ABC, ABC Studios, Touchstone Television and series creator Marc Cherry for $20 million!!!

The 46-year-old actress claims that she was struck on the head by Marc and fired when she complained about it.

“On September 24, 2008, during a rehearsal for the show, when Sheridan questioned Cherry about something that was in the script, Cherry took her aside and forcefully hit her with his hand across her face and head,” Nicollette says in her complaint via THR. “[I was] physically and emotionally injured, humiliated and stunned by Cherry‘s sudden physical violence and stated, ‘you just hit me in the head, that is not okay. THAT IS NOT OKAY!’ ”

Nicollette continued, “After an incident where Sheridan‘s co-star on the show Teri Hatcher went above Cherry‘s head to speak to ABC executives, Cherry told Sheridan, ‘I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.’ ”

ABC has responded, saying, “While we have yet to see the actual complaint, we investigated similar claims made by Ms. Sheridan last year and found them to be without merit.”

Wow, this lawsuit seems like it’s straight off the script of Desperate Housewives!

TV Guide reports that at this event, Marc expressed his desire to extend DH to a total of nine seasons, versus his previously envisioned seven. (The series is currently in its fifth season.)

The Desperate Housewives stars pose together for the first time on a magazine cover since season 1… and naturally TV Guide was the way to go!

“The idea for the five-year jump on Desperate Housewives really came from the executive producers of Lost,” show creator and executive producer Marc Cherry. “I’m actually doing something unheard of in Hollywood. I’m giving credit where credit is due… We didn’t need to do this, we wanted to do this. It’s given us all a new lease on life. We’re treating the season premiere like a pilot, as if we’re meeting these women all over again.”

Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have called off their engagement!

Her rep Nicole Perna tells People, “Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement. They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.”

The 55-year-old musician and the 44-year-old Desperate Housewives star have been on and off since 1993. From 1991-93, Nicollette was married to actor Harry Hamlin, who is currently married to Lisa Rinna. Nicollette also called off her engagement to Swedish actor Niklas Soderblom back in October 2005.

Scope out the new promos for the ABC hit drama Desperate Housewives — Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Dana Delany as Katherine Mayfair, Marcia Cross as Bree Van De Kamp, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Nicollette Sheridan as Edie Britt and Eva Longoria Parker as Gabrielle Solis.

During the season finale last season, the show flashed ahead five years. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Especially the new man in Susan‘s life, played by Gale Harold!
