The 40-year-old rapper opened up in a new interview and revealed himself to be on the Free Britney team, saying that he wants the 39-year-old singer to have a chance to control her own life.
“Britney gave me an amazing opportunity to be able to go on tour with her in Europe. I’m very good friends with the manager Larry Rudolph,” Pitbull recalled of their relationship. “You know, I’m all about freedom, I’m all about independence. As far as what’s going on with Britney, that’s been going on for many many years. Hopefully, they can break the cycle.”
He went on, adding that he hopes she “gets the chance to control her own destiny.”
“To control your own destiny in life doesn’t mean you have to have to get it absolutely right the first time. It’s never about that. They’re not called mistakes they are called ‘must-takes’ and mistakes don’t make you…you know, you don’t make mistakes, mistakes make you. Therefore she has to get a chance to be herself.”
Pitbull continued, “She has to get a chance to live her life. She has to get a chance to control her own destiny and create her own future. Free Britney!”
Britney has been the subject of a lot of talk after the documentary Framing Britney Spears bowed.
Pitbull has dropped a brand new song in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic called “I Believe That We Will Win”.
The 39-year-old musician revealed to Billboard that the song was inspired by a friend, who took the chant that’s usually said at sporting events, and made a beat to it.
“I thought it was crazy that he was showing it to me because it was literally when the lockdown started and I told him, ‘Man, this is what the world needs right now’,” Pitbull shared. “I knocked out the record within a day and a half and by the third day, we were ready to put out the snippet for everybody because I felt that that message is needed right now more than ever.”
All proceeds from the new track will go toward charities like Feeding America and the Tony Robbins Foundation to help those in need during the pandemic.
Pitbull added that he’s looking at the pandemic as a chance for the world and human kind to reset: “I always look at things like a blessing in disguise. I look at solutions and opportunities and more than anything I look at the message and the lesson.”
“It’s given God’s green earth a couple of months to be able to breathe, [and] it reminded people to utilize technology, don’t let it use you. It got to the point that people were so connected that they were disconnected now they’re so disconnected that ironically they’re connected. I think it’s something great for humanity to come together now.”
He added that “we’re going to get through this, we’ll fight through this. We have a recovery number of nearly 400,000 worldwide and that’s what we need to be talking about. That’s what I look for and we should be talking about these numbers to give people hope and motivation. To be able to be a part of this historical time and see a response from people like, ‘Damn, I am strong, we can make it,’ that for me is priceless.”
