Woody Allen Reveals He Ignores Most of The Comments About Him Because of Dylan Farrow's Accusations

Woody Allen is opening up about the accusations that Dylan Farrow has been making against him for years, and why his decision is to keep on going despite them.

Speaking to The Daily Mail, the 83-year-old filmmaker says that “even if Dylan was to come out and say she made the whole thing up and was sorry, some people would still believe the story.”

Woody adds that for the most part, he ignores it.

“I work. I carry on. I surround myself with people I’ve known for a long time, people who know the truth,” he shared.

Woody also talked about the handful of celebrities who have distanced themselves from him because of the accusations that he sexually assaulted Dylan.

“I don’t feel vindicated because that is to imply I was concerned and — I don’t wish to seem callous — but I am not. Of course, I am aware I am the subject of gossip and scandal, but I cannot let it bother me,” he added. “I live my life. I work. I play jazz. I watch sports. I see my friends. I don’t look up and I don’t read anything.”

This one star, and a close friend of Woody‘s, recently opened up about not believing Dylan‘s story. See what they shared here…

Larry David Says It's Hard to Believe Woody Allen 'Did Anything Wrong' After Reading His Book

Larry David doesn’t think Woody Allen is guilty of anything.

After the 84-year-old director’s memoir, Apropos of Nothing, was announced and then shelved amid criticism by its initial publisher before eventual publication, the 72-year-old Curb Your Enthusiasm actor, who starred in Woody‘s Whatever Works in 2009, spoke out in defense of Woody upon reading the book.

“Yeah, it’s pretty great, it’s a fantastic book, so funny. You feel like you’re in the room with him and yeah, it’s just a great book and it’s hard to walk away after reading that book thinking that this guy did anything wrong,” Larry said in a recent New York Times profile.

Woody has maintained his innocence amid allegations of molestation by daughter Dylan Farrow over the years. She and her brother Ronan spoke out about the book’s publication. Here’s what they said…

Dylan Farrow Reacts to Woody Allen's Memoir Being Canceled

Dylan Farrow has reacted to the news that Hachette Book Group has cancelled Woody Allen‘s memoir.

The 34-year-old estranged daughter of the filmmaker and brother, Dylan, voiced their criticism of the publishing group earlier this week when they announced their plans to publish Woody‘s book in April.

Their criticism was supported by many walkouts from the staff of Little, Brown and Company.

“To each and every individual who, at great professional risk to themselves, stood in solidarity with my brother, myself, and all victims of sexual abuse yesterday: words will never describe the debt of gratitude I owe to you,” Dylan wrote in a note on social media.

Dylan‘s brother Ronan also called out the company, who published his own book, “Catch & Kill” last year.

“Hachette Book Group has decided that it will not publish Woody Allen’s memoir A Propos of Nothing, originally scheduled for sale in April 2020, and will return all rights to the author,” they said.

“The decision to cancel Mr. Allen’s book was a difficult one. At HBG we take our relationships with authors very seriously, and do not cancel books lightly. We have published and will continue to publish many challenging books. As publishers, we make sure every day in our work that different voices and conflicting points of views can be heard. Also, as a company, we are committed to offering a stimulating, supportive and open work environment for all our staff. Over the past few days, HBG leadership had extensive conversations with our staff and others. After listening, we came to the conclusion that moving forward with publication would not be feasible for HBG.”

The news comes after staff walked out at the publishing company in protest.

Grand Central Publishing, which is a division of Hatchette, announced they will publish Woody‘s book, Apropos of Nothing, on April 7.

“Hachette, my publisher, acquired Woody Allen’s memoir after other major publishers refused to do so and concealed the decision from me and its own employees while we were working on Catch and Kill—a book about how powerful men, including Woody Allen, avoid accountability for sexual abuse. I’ve also told Hachette that a publisher that would conduct itself in this way is one I can’t work with in good conscience,” he wrote on Twitter.

“My sister Dylan has never been contacted to respond to any denial or mischaracterization of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Woody Allen—a credible allegation maintained for almost three decades, backed up by contemporaneous accounts and evidence,” he went on to say.

“I’ve encouraged Hachette, out of respect for its readers, authors and reputation, to conduct a thorough fact check of Woody Allen’s account, in particular any claim that implies my sister is not telling the truth.”

Dylan Farrow Responds to Woody Allen's Upcoming Memoir, Calls It 'Deeply Upsetting'

Dylan Farrow is speaking out after it was announced that her father Woody Allen will be releasing a memoir via a division of Hachette Book Group.

Grand Central Publishing announced that the book “is a comprehensive account of his life, both personal and professional, and describes his work in films, theater, television, nightclubs, and print. Allen also writes of his relationships with family, friends, and the loves of his life.”

Dylan has alleged that her father molested her as a child, but he denies any wrongdoing. She says Hachette’s decision to acquire the book is an “utter betrayal” because the company also released her brother Ronan Farrow‘s book “Catch and Kill.”

In her statement she said, “Hachette’s publishing of Woody Allen’s memoir is deeply upsetting to me personally and an utter betrayal of my brother whose brave reporting, capitalized on by Hachette, gave voice to numerous survivors of sexual assault by powerful men. For the record, I was never contacted by any fact checkers to verify the information in this ‘memoir,’ demonstrating an egregious abdication of Hachette’s most basic responsibility. On the other hand, my story has undergone endless scrutiny and has never been published without extensive fact checking. This provides yet another example of the profound privilege that power, money, and notoriety affords. Hachette’s complicity in this should be called out for what it is and they should have to answer for it.”
