John Mayer Wants His Ex-Girlfriends to Write Songs About Him

John Mayer steps out of the Montage Hotel after having dinner with friends on Wednesday evening (June 4) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 36-year-old singer recently was asked by TMZ photographers if he minds when his ex-girlfriends write songs about him.

“That’s what you’re supposed to do, man, you’re supposed to write songs,” John said. “You’re just not supposed to tell everybody you’re doing it.”

“I actually want everybody’s song to go No. 1… I purposely stopped writing hits to give other people a chance to have No. 1 songs,” he added.
