Gwyneth Paltrow Delivers Speech at Capitol Hill: 'We As Americans All Have the Right to Know What's In Our Food'
Gwyneth Paltrow flashes a smile alongside her mother Blythe Danner while attending a news conference to discuss opposition of the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act held at Capitol Hill on Wednesday (August 5) in Washington, DC.
The 42-year-old actress was escorted by Sens. Jon Tester of Montana, Barbara Boxer of California, and Patrick Leahy of Vermont before delivering speech to represent a new bill – the Genetically Engineered Right to Know Act – that would require all GMO products be labeled as such.
“My kids are normal American children and they eat everything everybody else eats,” Gwyneth said during her speech (via ABC News). “Much in the way I want to know if my food is farm-raised, or wild, or if my orange juice is fresh or from concentrate. I also believe I have the right, and we as Americans all have the right to know what’s in our food. We would just love this information. We think it’s important as consumers and as mothers.”
