Viola Davis Makes History for Black Women at Emmys 2015
Viola Davis accepts her award on stage at the 2015 Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (September 20) in Los Angeles.
The 50-year-old actress won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the show How to Get Away with Murder.
Viola made history as the first black woman to ever win an award in the category. Just a few years back, Kerry Washington became the first black woman in nearly two decades to get a nomination in the category. She thanked Kerry and quoted Harriet Tubman in her acceptance speech, which you can watch below.
