Tony Goldwyn speaks on stage during a portion on day two of the 2016 Democratic National Convention on Tuesday (July 26) at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Penn.

The 56-year-old actor, who plays the president on Scandal, introduced the “Mothers of the Movement” – the mothers of young black victims of police brutality including Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Mike Brown, Oscar Grant, and more.

“I am proud tonight to introduce a group of women profoundly impacted by injustice and violence, who have turned their pain into power and their outrage into action. They are the Mothers of the Movement,” Tony said. “They understand that we must reach out to each other because of our diversity, because we are stronger together.”

Hillary [Clinton] says we can’t hide from these hard truths about race and justice in America,” he said. “We have to name them and own them, and then change them. That’s what she’ll do as President… The Mothers of the Movement prove that one life at a time, one Mother at a time, we can change the world.”
