Adam Rippon celebrates after his performance during the Men’s Single Skating Short Program during the 2018 Winter Olympics on Friday (February 16) at Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea.
The 28-year-old figure skater scored 87.95 points for his program and landed in first place after he skated. At the time of this posting, he is currently in third place and there are still six skaters to compete including USA’s Nathan Chen.
Adam is not expected to get a medal and he knows it.
“Coming here, my most important event was that team event. To skate so well, I knew my job was to go and help Team USA get a medal,” Adam told NBC. “Now, I’m heading in the individual event, I know I’m not a medal favorite. And you know what, I know I might not be the best, but I’m the most fun. So I think that tonight, I’m really gonna enjoy myself, I’m gonna do my best to skate my heart out.”
