Kim Kardashian Gives First Interview About Meeting with Trump

Kim Kardashian is opening up for the first time about her meeting with President Trump, who later commuted the life sentence that first-time, non-violent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson was serving in prison.

The 37-year-old reality star became passionate about getting Alice released from jail after seeing her story on Twitter seven months ago. Since then, she has been working daily to make a change in Alice‘s life after she spent almost 22 years in prison.

“I have met him before, before he was the president a few times so it was a hug and [I] sat down and he was like, ‘Okay. So what’s going on? Why are we here?’ We started the meeting,” Kim said in an interview with CNN’s Van Jones. “I did take a second to say like wait a minute, we’re in the oval office.”

Kim decided to lighten the mood when she entered the room and made a joke about her sister.

“He said, ‘Why are you here?’ I said, ‘Really I’m here because I want to know why you kicked Khloe off The Apprentice.’ It was a laugh and it was funny and then we got into business,” Kim said.

Kim got a phone call earlier this week from Trump, who told her he reviewed the case and decided to commute Alice‘s sentence.

“He felt it, he was compassionate. He was sympathetic to her. He said, ‘This is a really long time that she’s been in here. This just isn’t fair.’ He knew that this was the right thing to do,” Kim said. “And he said that from the start… He knew it was the right thing to do and he said that and he was really honest with it and he wanted to make it happen.”
