Mindy Kaling Will Donate $40,000 to Charity for 40th Birthday

Mindy Kaling is celebrating her 40th birthday today (June 24) and she announced that she is going to donate $1,000 to 40 different charities to mark the big day.

The Late Night writer and actress asked her Twitter followers to recommend charities to receive the donations.

“I’m so grateful to have my wonderful, peaceful life w/ my daughter Katherine. How lucky am I to turn 40? I would love to express my gratitude by donating $1000 to 40 different charitable orgs that help others. Pls suggest some! I will kick it off by giving $1000 to @RAICESTEXAS!” Mindy tweeted.

Some of the charities that will receive Mindy Kaling‘s donations thanks to fan suggestions including Charity Water, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, End Rape on Campus, The Trevor Project, Moms Demand, and more.
