Andy Gill Dead - Gang of Four Guitarist Dies at 64

Andy Gill, one of the founding members of the band Gang of Four, has died at the age of 64.

The guitarist passed away after a brief respiratory illness.

“Andy’s final tour in November was the only way he was ever really going to bow out; with a Stratocaster around his neck, screaming with feedback and deafening the front row,” a statement from the band read.

“His uncompromising artistic vision and commitment to the cause meant that he was still listening to mixes for the upcoming record, whilst planning the next tour from his hospital bed,” the band added.

Andy also worked as a music producer and he produced the debut album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among many other albums.
