Neil Diamond Returns to the Stage Two Years After Retiring Due to Parkinson's Diagnosis

Neil Diamond retired from his music career in January 2018 after revealing to the world that he has Parkinson’s disease.

The 79-year-old singer-songwriter returned to the stage to perform at Keep Memory Alive’s Power of Love Gala on Saturday (March 7) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

“I’m feeling great,” Neil said at the event (via People). “This is an important thing they’re doing and I feel honored to be part of it and take part in it.”

Neil performed a bunch of his hits, including “Sweet Caroline,” at the event, which raised money for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Jimmy Kimmel paid tribute to Neil at the gala.

“I love Las Vegas and I love Neil Diamond,” he said. “Not only do I love Neil, but my parents love him, my friends love him, my children love him. Neil Diamond is an amazing songwriter and singer and I think you will agree that no Jewish man looks better in sequins than Neil Diamond.”
