Chris Evans Explains Why He's Slowing Down on Trump Tweets

Chris Evans is known for being very critical of Donald Trump and his presidency on Twitter, but you may have noticed that he has cut back on those types of tweets lately.

Well, the 38-year-old Captain America actor is explaining why he hasn’t been as vocal these days.

It all has to do with the new political website that Chris is getting ready to launch, which is called A Starting Point.

“I just thought, ‘Why isn’t there a place I can go to hear both sides of an issue in a succinct way that I can trust?’” Chris previously said about the site. “It’s a one-stop shop for simple digestable information from people who know best… I want to make it clear that this website has nothing to do with my political opinion. It’s not about my political opinion. This is about yours. This is a chance for you to talk about issues that matter to you.”

In a new interview with Esquire, Chris hinted that he’s cut back the amount of tweets he’s been doing while getting ready to launch the site.

“I’m going to take my foot off the gas [of social media] for a little bit until we get this thing up and running,” he said. He added that right-wing lawmakers have not wanted to sit down for interviews with him.

Chris has interviews with 160 elected officials that will be featured on the site.

“I just want to say to people, ‘You know what’s helpful?’ That’s the beginning of the sentence,” he said. “The site is not an antidote. It’s not medicine. It’s not a cure. It’s not the solution. It’s just something I think is helpful. But one thing I’m really trying to stay away from is declaring, ‘This is what’s wrong with today.’ ”
