The judge sentenced the three men to life in prison.

Travis and Gregory were sentenced to life plus 20 years without the possibility of parole, and William was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole.

Life in prison is the minimum sentence for murder in Georgia.

In February of 2020, the three men followed Ahmaud, who was on a jog, with their pickup trucks, fatally shooting the unarmed 25-year-old. They were found guilty on multiple murder counts back in November of 2021.

There were no arrests in the case until two months after Ahamud‘s death, when video footage of the killing went viral, sparking outrage amid the global Black Lives Matter movement.
