Mel Gibson Abruptly Ends Fox News Interview After Being Asked About Will Smith's Oscars Slap

Mel Gibson abruptly ended an interview with Fox News after he was asked a question about Will Smith‘s slap at the Oscars.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker appeared on Jesse Watters‘ Fox News show on Friday (April 1) to talk about his latest movie Father Stu, which he stars in.

Near the end of the interview, Jesse asked, “You understand it probably better than a lot of people, with your career. And I was wondering if, you know, you had been the one that jumped up out of his seat and slapped Chris Rock, if you would have been treated the same way, Mel?”

Mel didn’t say anything in response to the question, but he held up his hand and shook his head.

A woman’s voice was then heard and she shut down the interview. “Um, I’m — thank you, Jesse. Uh, we — that is our time,” the voice said.

Will announced that same day that he is resigning from the Academy.
