“Thank you. Thank you very, very much. I’m not going to talk about it,” Jerrod said as soon as he took the stage. “I want to be clear up top: I’ve talked about it enough, kept talking about it, kept thinking about it. I don’t want to talk about it, and you can’t make me talk about it.”

Jerrod added, “I’ve got a question—do you want to talk about it? Aren’t you sick of talking about it? Isn’t it kind of crazy? It feels like I’ve been talking about it for so long…Doesn’t it feel like it happened years ago? Like, doesn’t it feel like it happened when we were all in high school?”

“It feels like we’ve been living in the wake of it our entire lives,” Jerrod said. “It happened on Sunday! On Sunday!”

Jerrod later went on to say that he vowed to “never, ever” speak out about the Oscars incident, but SNL creator Lorne Michaels told him he needed to talk about it.

“Then, Lorne came into my dressing room. He was like, ‘I think you need to talk about it…The nation needs to heal,’” Jerrod joked. “I said, ‘The nation needs to what? And you want me to do that? The nation don’t even know me. The nation has no clue who I am.’”

Jerrod concluded his monologue with a message directly to former President Barack Obama, telling him he needs to come back and “talk about it” so that “the country can heal.”

If you missed it, Jerrod shared some big news about his personal life.
