Anitta Dishes On Her Disney Park Inspired 'Coachella' Set & Teases Weekend #2!

Anitta is opening up about everything in her latest interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music.

The 28-year-old Brazilian singer dished about why she goes by Anitta instead of her real name, having boundaries with her fans, and her Disney-engineer produced Coachella set.

On Coachella: “[For weekend two] I’m a hundred percent going to have more fun because I was very nervous about… Because for my country and everyone is saying that to me, it felt like a world cup. It felt like a world cup for them. It was the first time.”

On bringing in a Disney engineer to produce her set: “I just wanted to bring my culture. I just feel like Brazilian people, we know how to party, we know how to enjoy the moment and ensure in that environment and just make everyone feel welcome and feel like they want to be part of it. So, I built a show… Since the beginning, whenever I was thinking about it, six months ago, I was in Disney World with my mom, and my favorite park is Animal Kingdom, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I just love how we feel immersed in this. We just feel the magic and we feel like we are part of each movie or each ride and blah, blah, blah.’ So, I got home and I started to watch this documentary of the behind-the-scenes, how they build the parks, and I said, ‘Okay, I want this guy.’ His name is Joe. He was explaining how he brought the environment of Avatar, the movie, to the Pandora Park in the park, and I was like, ‘Okay, I need this guy to tell me how can I bring the favela to the stage?’”

On setting up boundaries: “I love normal life. I’m very honest with my fans, and they are very intense, so it’s like they watch me on my platforms, 24 hours a day, so they know everything I say. So, I use that. I want to have a common life, so if I’m going out, I always go to my social media and I’m like, ‘Hi, I’m going out. If you see me, don’t bother me. Come, talk to me, let’s dance, let’s have some fun. Don’t annoy me talking weird shit, or don’t be asking me for 20 videos or 20 pictures. If I’m drunk, I’m not going to take pictures with you. Take advantage of the time I’m sober, then I’ll be fine. Don’t stop me while I’m dancing, to come talk to me.’ And I just put my rules.”

On her stage name: “My real name is Larissa. The name Anitta comes from a series in Brazil that there was this character, the main character. She used to say that she liked to wake up and choose which woman she wanted to be. She didn’t like to be like basic and just one girl. And I loved that because that’s very me. And when I’m making music, it’s like that. I can’t do an album thinking of like, ‘Oh, I need to follow a line of… I don’t know.’ I can’t do an album thinking that the songs need to connect with each other. I just want to go to the studio and be like, ‘Today, I want to be this.’ That’s it.”
