Queen Elizabeth II Funeral: Twitter Praises Pallbearers Who Flew Back From Iraq To Carry Coffin

As the world laid Queen Elizabeth II to rest on Monday (September 19) in London, England, many are praising the pallbearers who carried her from Westminster Abbey to her final resting place.

Her Majesty’s casket, which was made 30 years ago, is said to weigh anywhere between 550 to 700 lbs, and because of this, requires eight people to carry it.

Soldiers from the Queen’s Company, First Battalion of the Grenadier Guards are serving as The Queen’s pallbearers, and the regiment is one of the oldest in the British Army and traces its history back to 1656.

These eight soldiers were specially chosen for the role and flew back from Iraq, where they were for a special operation, to prepare for the funeral.

There hasn’t been an official introduction to the soldiers, however, many royal fans on Twitter are praising the eight men.

“What an absolutely incredible job those eight young men did as pallbearers for Her Majesty today. Nerves of steel and utmost precision in front of billions,” one wrote.

Another adding, “Someone please buy those pallbearers a beer. Top work lads 👏”
