Netflix Reveals 'The Crown' Season 5 Premiere Date, New Cast Unveiled

Netflix has announced that season five of The Crown will be released in November 2022, despite the recent death of Queen Elizabeth.

The streamer just confirmed that season five will premiere on November 9. The upcoming season will follow the royal family during the mid-1990s up until the death of Princess Diana.

Deadline reports that the execs behind The Crown say that when the show was created, they came up with protocols on how they would proceed if the Queen passed away while the show was being made. The outlet says the creators were “always adamant, as were others, that production be paused for a short period as a mark of respect.”

Season six is currently being filmed and production indeed paused for a brief period. Now, production has resumed and will continue through 2023.
