'The Crown' Star Reacts to Criticism After Judi Dench Condemns the Show

After criticism of the show from John Major, who was the UK Prime Minister commanded by Queen Elizabeth II, as well as Judi Dench, Jonathan Pryce reacted to their critiques.

Jonathan said during a Zoom conversation with Deadline that he understood John Major “voicing his disquiet because he was there,” but he added, “I’m hugely disappointed by my fellow artistes.”

Judi Dench published an open letter to the UK’s The Times condemning the royal drama for presenting “an inaccurate and hurtful account of history.” Netflix then added a disclaimer to the series description for the latest trailer.

Jonathan added to the outlet: “the vast majority of people know it’s a drama. They’ve been watching it for four seasons.”
