Constance Wu Talks About Her Ghost Encounter & Explains Why She Doesn't Think Ghosts Are Spooky

Constance Wu is currently starring in the U.S. premiere of the stage play 2:22 – A Ghost Story and she is opening up about her own encounter with a ghost.

The 40-year-old Crazy Rich Asians actress seems like the perfect person to be leading the production since she really believes in ghosts!

In 2:22, Jenny (Wu) believes her new home is haunted, but her husband Sam (Finn Wittrock) isn’t having any of it. They argue with their first dinner guests, old friend Lauren (Anna Camp) and new partner Ben (Adam Rothenberg). Can the dead really walk again? Belief and skepticism clash, but something feels strange and frightening, and that something is getting closer. So, they’re going to stay up until 2:22….and then they’ll know.

Constance talked to THR about her real-life encounter with a ghost.

“I believe in ghosts but not in the way most people do. I don’t think it’s a spooky, scary, haunted thing,” she said. “I think ghost encounters are very ordinary. Mine happened in broad daylight in a neighborhood, not in a haunted house or with any scary vibes around. I saw a very old lady standing there and she was very nice with these thick glasses. And then, just like that, she was gone. It wasn’t scary and she wasn’t threatening. It just seemed like she was a little lost.”

2:22 – A Ghost Story is currently playing in Los Angeles at the Center Theatre Group’s Ahmanson Theatre. Tickets are on sale now!
