'General Hospital' Star Sonya Eddy Has Passed Away at 55

Sonya Eddy has sadly died.

The actress, best known for her work on General Hospital, passed away at the age of 55, her friend Octavia Spencer confirmed on social media on Tuesday (December 20) with an Instagram post.

“My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her 💔🕊️ My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!” Octavia wrote.

The cause of her death is not yet known.

Sonya first starred on General Hospital in 2006, appearing in 543 episodes of the long-running soap opera. She played Epiphany Johnson on the series.

She would later appear on shows like The Drew Carey Show, CSI, Glee and Fresh Off the Boat, among many others.
