Jamie Lee Curtis' Quote About Being a 'Nepo Baby' Goes Viral Amid That Magazine Cover

There has been a lot of talk about nepotism babies only this week!

If you missed it, New York Magazine‘s latest cover story released on Monday (December 19) is all about the children of stars, otherwise known as “nepo babies.” And the cover – which features the faces of A-list celebs pasted onto the bodies of babies – has especially gotten a lot of attention and become the subject of Internet fodder.

There have been a lot of fans critical of some celebs for claiming that their status as the child of famous parents has not really helped them.

Jamie Lee Curtis‘ quote from 2019 about being the child of nepotism is going viral amid all of the talk. If you don’t know, her father is Tony Curtis, an actor known for hits including 1959′s Some Like It Hot, and Janet Leigh, who is famous as the woman from the shower scene in 1960′s Psycho.

In 2019, while speaking with the New Yorker, she was asked about landing the leading role of Laurie in 1978′s Halloween, which launched the Michael Myers franchise.

Jamie responded, “I auditioned many, many, many times. And then it was between me and one other woman, whose name I know but I will never say publicly. I’m sure the fact that I was Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis’s daughter, and that my mother had been in ‘Psycho’—if you’re going to choose between this one and this one, choose the one whose mother was in ‘Psycho,’ because it will get some press for you.”

She added, “I’m never going to pretend that I just got that on my own, like I’m just a little girl from nowhere getting it. Clearly, I had a leg up.”

Fans are praising Jamie Lee for being so refreshingly honest with her take. Lily Rose Depp, who is Johnny Depp‘s daughter, sparked more talk about the debate with her quote about if she thinks she’s a nepo baby.
