Lupita Nyong’o went public with her boyfriend Selema Masekela this week. However, it looks like they might have kept their love story under wraps for a while.

The 39-year-old Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actress confirmed that they were a couple by sharing a cute post on Instagram on Friday (December 23).

Shortly after the post went live, fans uncovered some tweets that make us think Lupita and Selema have at least been acquainted since 2016, when they were on the same plane.

“Hypothetically speaking of course…let’s say you’re seated behind Lupita Nyong’o on an airplane, what would be your opening line,” Selema tweeted on April 5, 2016.

“Anyone comes up with a good opener for me with Lupita Nyong’o, send em. Cause I’m really sittin’ right behind her on this flight,” he added in a second tweet.

There’s no confirmation if their love story began then, but it’s certainly a very fun story about how they met.
