One 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Character Might Not Return for 'Across the Spider-Verse' - Find Out Who

One beloved version of Spider-Man might not be making a cameo in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

The long-awaited sequel to Into the Spider-Verse, the animated movie starring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy, is set to arrive this year.

Anticipation is building to see what the web-slinging heroes will face off against in the new blockbuster. However, fans are also growing concerned that one of the original stars won’t be back in action.

Nicolas Cage made his Spider-Man debut playing Spider-Man Noir, a detective version of the character, in Into the Spider-Verse. The actor was recently asked if he’d be in the new movie, and he gave a very disheartening answer.

“You’d have to ask Sony,” he told Screen Rant. “I don’t know what’s going on with that. No one’s spoken to me about that. Ask them. I don’t know. I really don’t.”

He continued, expressing hope for another shot at the character.

“I love Spider-Man Noir, too. I think that’s a great character. Spider-Man’s the coolest superhero. And then you combine that with Cagney and Bogart and Edward G. Robinson, come on, it’s a great character,” he said.

Considering the way that Marvel and Sony pulled off surprise cameos for Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s possible that Nicolas is simply deflecting from the question. However, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is scheduled to be released in theaters and IMAX on June 2, 2023. A third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release on March 29, 2024
