Super Bowl-Winning Former NFL Player Charles Johnson's Cause of Death Revealed
Charles Johnson‘s cause of death has been revealed.
The former NFL wide receiver, who played in the Super Bowl and won with Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the 2001 season, passed away back in July at the age of 50, and a new report from the North Carolina state medical examiner’s office has revealed the cause of death.

The football player died by suicide, the office confirmed.
In documents obtained by USA Today, officials said Charles died after appearing to overdose on drugs.
He had oxycodone, hydrocodone and mirtazapine in his system at the time of his death, and had no active prescriptions for those drugs.
He reportedly claimed to have suffered disabilities from his time in the NFL over nine years, playing for the Steelers, Patriots, Eagles and Bills after being a first round pick in the 1994 draft.
He was found dead on July 17 inside a hotel room in Raleigh, North Carolina, one day after his wife reported him missing.
