Alec Baldwin Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in 'Rust' On Set Shooting of Halyna Hutchins

Alec Baldwin is being charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter involving the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer on the set of his film Rust.

If you don’t know the tragic story, Halyna was shot and killed on the set of Rust in October of 2021 when Alec pulled the trigger of a prop gun. Shortly after the shooting, Alec made a statement about her death. The transcript of what happened in the moments after the shooting were also revealed a short time later.

The Santa Fe County DA, Mary Carmack-Altwies, has revealed that armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and Alec will both be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and has released a statement about her findings.

“After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the ‘Rust’ film crew,” Carmack-Altwies said in a statement (via NBC). “On my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice.”

Assistant director David Halls has also allegedly accepted the terms of a plea deal to plead guilty to a charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Halyna is survived by her husband Matthew and their nine-year-old son, Aldous. RIP.
