Hallmark's 'The Way Home': Fans Have Theories About What Actually Happened To Jacob (Spoilers!)

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD! DON’T READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW!

The Way Home just delivered a nail biting, heart racing episode by shining a light on what could’ve possibly happened to Jacob Landry.

The episode focused in on the fall carnival and the circumstances around the younger brother of Kat, and son of Del, on the Hallmark Channel series.

During, and after the episode aired, fans took to both Twitter and Reddit to theorize what could’ve happened to the young boy.

In the episode, adult Kat (Chyler Leigh) took a deep dive into Jacob’s disappearance, trying to line up both of the timelines and figure out what happened. She even went to interview Jacob’s best friend at the time, Danny, to get the true story of what he saw at the carnival.

At the same time, Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) is still hopping between 1999 and the present, getting caught up in a relationship before she realizes that the fall carnival where Jacob disappeared is just around the corner.

While the mother and daughter duo work separately to save Jacob from disappearing, it’s revealed that adult Kat actually walked Jacob back to the Landry home at the carnival.

However, while she watches him approach the home, she does not stay to watch him go inside – despite Brady’s car being parked in front of the house.

This is where a lot of fans chimed in with their thoughts and theories, and called the both Kat’s out for their actions.

“Maybe Jacob followed either Alice or Kat into the pond and he time-traveled to the future but he couldn’t find his way back or something,” one Reddit user, ICuTie92, wrote. “I also thought at the beginning of the episode that Kat had taken Jacob to the future with her because she realized that the past needed to stay the same and Jacob never being found was always part of it.”

Many others think that Jacob followed the adult Kat back to the pond, as well.

“I’m still betting on that Jacob went in the pond… I feel adult Kat is with him when he goes in the pond and he just never comes back out of it again … We’ll see …,” another Twitter user posted.
