Armie Hammer's Cannibalism Accusations Become Butt of a Joke During Independent Spirit Awards 2023

Host Hasan Minjah opened the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards by making light of allegations that Armie Hammer is a cannibal.

The comedian kicked off the awards show on Saturday evening (March 4) by highlighting Armie‘s connection to Timothee Chalamet. If you forgot, they starred in Call Me By Your Name together.

Timothee went on to appear alongside Taylor Russell in Bones and All, a love story about two cannibals from the same director as Call Me By Your Name – Luca Guadagnino.

Hasan elicited groans instead of laughs from the audience when he asked about Hollywood making movies “about Timothee Chalamet falling in love with a cannibal.”

While Timothee was not up for any awards during the show and was not in attendance, Bones and All was nominated for Best Feature. Taylor was up for Best Lead Performance and co-star Mark Rylance was nominated for Best Supporting Performance.

Armie addressed the accusations against him during an explosive interview earlier this year.
