'Scream 6': The Numbers Are In! Opening Weekend Box Office Figures Revealed

Scream VI is officially a hit!

The sixth installment in the Scream franchise opened to an impressive $44.5 million in its opening weekend, Variety confirmed on Sunday (March 12).

The horror movie beat out entries like 65, Champions, as well as last weekend’s No. 1, Creed III.

The opening beat out 2022′s Scream, which debuted with $30 million, and beat the franchise’s all-time opening weekend record previously set by 2000’s Scream 3 with $34 million. The movie cost $35 million, meaning it’s already going to turn a profit.

It also broke records internationally for the franchise, with franchise best opening numbers in 29 international territories, bringing the global tally to $67 million.

The entire creative team of Scream 5 returned, including directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay. And while many of the stars of the fifth movie returned, including Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega and Courteney Cox, one very noticeably is not back.
