'Smile' Sequel Expected With Parker Finn Signing First-Look Deal With Paramount

Parker Finn has just signed a first-look deal with Paramount to write, produce, and direct features.

The 35-year-old writer’s breakout horror hit Smile became a box office sensation.

Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home,” said Paramount Pictures President and CEO Brian Robbins.

The 2022 horror movie brought in $216 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. The film was adapted from Parker‘s 2020 short film, Laura Hasn’t Slept.

Smile was originally supposed to be released on the streaming service Paramount+, but after screen testing Paramount decided the movie should be released in theaters instead.
