Will John Boyega Ever Make Another 'Star Wars' Movie? Fans Wonder After Announcement of Daisy Ridley's Franchise Return

Daisy Ridley is back to the Star Wars franchise, and now people are wondering if her former co-star John Boyega will return as well.

If you missed it, it was confirmed that the 30-year-old actress was returning to her role Rey for the first time since 2019′s Rise of Skywalker for a new movie. That was also the last time that John appeared in the franchise playing Finn.

Since Daisy is making a comeback, fans turned around and got John‘s name trending on Twitter. They wanted to know if he’d be getting another movie, too.

However, the actor recently hinted at the answer to that question during an interview. In the process, he revealed the role he thought he’d be playing from here on out.

“My first interaction with Star Wars was a Darth Maul figure. I’m a ’90s baby so I came during the prequels. I was like, ‘Bloody hell, man.’ I didn’t know what it was but I knew it looked cool and there were spaceships and glowsticks that could slash your wrist off,” John said about the franchise during an interview with The Times of London (via Deadline).

He continued speaking about his history with the beloved franchise, saying, “Then I went back to the old Star Wars after. OK, I’m guilty – I did say that the effects are s-it when I was younger! I didn’t know any better. Then I grew into maturity and was in love with it. I still am in love with it. I bloody love it.”

The star then hinted at the role he was playing now: that of a fan.

“But it’s almost nicer not having to be in it, and not having to deal with that. It’s weird, you just go back to being a fan again and see yourself in the games,” he said.

John previously spoke out negatively about his experience in the franchise, implying that his character was “pushed to the side.”

Since then, he has reflected on what it would take for him to return to the franchise and called out racism in the fandom.
