'The Last of Us' Pauses Casting Due to Ongoing Writers Strike, Potentially Delaying Release

We’ve got bad news for fans who were waiting to hear more about the second season of HBO’s hit show The Last of Us: Casting has been put on hold due to the ongoing writers strike.

After debuting to rave reviews, the hit show was renewed earlier this year. Franchise star Bella Ramsey hinted that there were goals to return with the second season in 2024 or the year later.

However, the writers strike is potentially slowing that timeline down.

According to a report by Variety, casting was put on pause for the show’s second season as the strike carries on.

A source told the outlet that a script hasn’t been completed, and that the auditions were going to utilize lines from the The Last of Us Part II, the video game that provides source material for the show.

Showrunner and co-creator Craig Mazin is involved in the strike and has not been working on anything at this point. All of these issues are likely to slow down the project’s release.
