Tom Hardy is Promoted to Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt

Tom Hardy has officially been promoted.

The 45-year-old Venom actor received his purple belt in jiu jitsu after many years of training.

Tom has been active in competitions as a blue belt, winning multiple gold medals in the past year. He has competed in both gi and nogi divisions in his tournaments.

He was awarded the purple belt by Roger Gracie black belt Tomasz Rydzewski. The news was shared by one of Tom‘s friends, Tom DeBlass. He has also trained with John Danaher, widely regarded as the greatest jiujitsu coach of all-time.

Belt ranking for jiujitsu is: white, blue, purple, brown, and black. On average, it takes 8 to 10 years to earn a black belt.

Tom has also been supportive of REORG, a global non-profit organization and community that enables veterans, military and emergency service personnel to use Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Functional Fitness as a form of therapy.
